Matthias Jäggi
Matthias Jäggi was born in Bern. After an apprenticeship as an interior decorator he studied viola at Lucerne School of Music. During his studies he began to take great interest in early music. Thus, he attended several courses on historically-informed performance.
As a freelance musician, he plays in several orchestras and chamber music ensembles, such as: Les Passions de l'Ame, Capricornus Consort Basel, Capriccio Barockorchester, La Cetra Barockorchester, Orchester der J.S. Bach-Stiftung, and the cantus firmus consort. Apart from music he has another great passion: painting. He has presented his works in a number of successful individual and group exhibitions. Painting and music are equally important to him; one stimulates the other and the combination of both leads to a vibrant artistic creation.
