Varoujan Doneyan
Violin
Born in 1986, Varoujan Doneyan obtained his artistic diploma at the National Superior Conservatory of Paris for Music and Dance in 2007 (class of Boris Garlitsky). He also benefited from the teaching of Vladimir Mendelssohn and Marc Coppey in the field of chamber music. He has participated in concerts conducted by Kurt Masur, Heinz Hollinger, Christoph Eschenbach and served as concertmaster of the Orchestra of Conservatory Award Winners (OLC) during the 2007-2008 season. In 2007, he played with the Dutch Youth Orchestra (NJO) and began learning to play baroque violin.
Keenly interested in historical performance practice, he participated in early music academies where he took lessons from M. Glodeanu, D. Helm and M. Muller. Varoujan studied modern violin at the University of Music Freiburg with R. Kussmaul from 2008 to 2009 and thereafter moved to Brussels where he studied baroque violin with Mira Glodeanu at the Royal Conservatory.
He has performed with ensembles such as Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Le Poème Harmonique, B’Rock. Varoujan is also a member of the Maeterlinck Quartet, an ensemble which explores Expressionist and contemporary repertoire on historical instruments.
